Mark Cunningham, driving alone, had the bit between his teeth all through the 90 minute race, and his assertive, almost aggressive performance earned him the overall win in the SG Racing Seat Supercopa.
With very little to chose between the Class 1 and 2 runners this season, it was a Class 2 lock-out of the front row, the Professional Motorsport World Expo Supercopa of Graham Johnson and Mike Robinson qualifying ahead of the Cockill brothers' similar machine, whilst the second row had the top two Class 1 contenders, the Hayes/Radcliffe BMW M3, and Cunningham's Seat.
It was a no-nonsense start -- the field formed up in the pit lane, were led around by the Pace Car and let go -- but by the first corner Adam Hayes was into the lead, and Cunningham was all over the front-row sitters. In the melee, Johnson spun, or maybe he was tipped, and the black and dayglo Seat was facing a swarm of midfielders. Miraculously, most avoided carnage, but a couple of the front-running Production Sportscar Porsches were out on the spot, with Ian Lawson's Ing Sport BMW also caught up, driving back to the pits with hefty bodywork damage. "There was carnage ahead, then somebody just drove into the side of me" said Lawson."
